Which, let’s just be real, isn’t that like every morning? This leads me to the question, are you a morning person or a night owl? I used to one hundred percent be a morning person through and through. Getting up at 5am was no problem, but I was also going to bed at like 9 pm. Over the years of working hard on HBH, I’ve become more of a night owl and have oddly found that I have the most concentration at night. I blame this on the fact that at night I know time is running out and I need to FOCUS. Typically, I leave my writing for the night-time hours because if I write mid day I’ll do way too much scrolling through Instagram or browsing the internet and such. I guess what I’m saying is, I’ve learned to be both a morning and a night person. I know in the morning my focus is best spent responding to emails, developing recipes, and creating content. At night, my focus is more emails and writing. Not sure how good this is for my sleep, but it’s safe to say waking up at 5 am is much harder and doesn’t happen as often. It’s more like 6 o’clock…ish and pray I don’t sleep through my alarm. So, morning or night? What do you prefer?

Whether you’re morning or a night person, no one has a lot of time for making breakfast, and that’s when we turn to this 2 minute green smoothie. I’m just going to be honest here, normally smoothies are not my go-to when it comes to breakfast. I’m a big fan of chewing my food instead of sipping it, it’s just what I prefer. BUT that’s not to say I don’t enjoy a good smoothie on a busy morning. Yes, smoothies are my go-to on busy mornings because they have the potential to pack in so many nutrients. Here’s the deal though, gathering up all the ingredients for smoothies can actually be pretty time consuming. And washing produce and chopping fruit adds even more time. So I simplified the process by freezing my smoothie ingredients in freezer bags. Then in the morning all I need to do is dump the contents of my bag into the blender, add milk, and blend. DONE. It’s a two-minute process and it makes busy mornings a million and one times easier. And not only is it super efficient, but making these “smoothie packs” eliminates almost all chances that you will waste expensive produce throughout the week. Freezing everything ensures that the produce stays fresh for months. You see, it’s really a win, win situation.

Typically when I make my smoothies, they’re loaded to the brim with sweet fruit. You guys know I love my fruit. But I really wanted to make a smoothie that packed in the greens and healthy fats. I’m not into having a huge breakfast early in the morning, but I do love to start my day off with greens. This smoothie makes doing that EASY and delicious. Instead of filling the smoothie with just fruit, I added nutrient rich avocados and spinach. Yes, yes, yes. I put avocados and spinach into my smoothie and I promise you will love it. OK, well, you’ll love it if you can stand green things. If you can’t do green things (like some of my brothers), I recommend adding in a handful of red berries to change the color to pink. Then I feel confident in saying, you too will love it. Sometimes it’s all about tricking the mind… Anyway, the base of the smoothie is avocado and spinach. I sweetened it with a small banana and mango chunks. Then I added in protein packed and omega 3 rich hemp seeds, along with hormone balancing maca powder. If you’re looking for even more of a protein boost, you could also add in some protein powder. Or do a scoop of almond butter! And that’s pretty much it. When I know I have a busy week ahead, I’ll set aside fifteen minutes on a Sunday to make three or four of these smoothie bags. Then in the mornings, I just grab a bag and dump it all out into my blender, add coconut milk (or goat milk), and blend. Again, it takes two minutes and makes almost zero mess. Yes, please! PS. I LOVE topping smoothies with some type of granola. Right now I’m loving this Gr8nola, which is a super healthy store-bought option for when you just don’t have time make a batch of homemade granola.

Healthy, filling, and yummy – Perfect!
