Hey, hi! Hope you’re all having a great weekend. I’m exited to be back with a quick post and fun cocktail to share today. Yay!! OK, so jumping right into things here, because today is all about chilling in the sun and making cocktails <– Saturdays are the best. I am so incredibly in love with these mojitos. They are beautiful, refreshing, and so freaking good. I mean, just SO good! First things first, let me tell you that the lilac bushes growing outside my parents house have finally bloomed. Oh my gosh, hip, hip, hooray! I’ve only been waiting for this to happen for months now. Lilacs are my favorite and I love, love, love that I can just walk up and over to my parent’s house, steal a few branches, and come home to make cocktails, doughnuts and fun salads. It’s the BEST. And for those of you wondering, yes, lilacs are indeed edible! They are similar to lavender (to a point), but a little less intense, maybe? It’s hard to say, but I love their subtle hint of floral flavors. Especially in cocktails. Plus, they just smell so good. Again, I love them so much! When I saw the gorgeous purple lilacs I knew right away I was going to pair them with blackberries, and since I had mojitos on my mind, this cocktail just happened. Here’s the thing, these are not like any other mojito you’ve had before. They are pretty different… Here is how I made them. First things first, the lilac syrup. It’s not essential that you make this syrup, but if you have easy access to lilacs please, please, please, make this syrup. It adds a special touch to this mojito and it’s just really fun! If you don’t have access to fresh lilacs, you can swap in dried lavender or just sweeten your drink with a spoonful of sugar or a drizzle of honey. From here, add everything to a glass and muddle it up. I used lemons in place of limes, and basil in place of mint. These lighter flavors just seemed more fitting with the lilacs and fresh blackberries. I love the way the basil pairs with the blackberries…SO GOOD. Finish everything off with sparkling water and DONE. The perfect mojito to make today and all summer long. Yes, yes, YES!
