When it’s time to ring in the new year, I turn to fun drink recipes like a cranberry mimosa, champagne punch, pomegranate margaritas and these beautiful and delicious champagne gelatin shots. When I think New Year’s Eve, I think sparkling wine. Instead of pouring a glass of champagne to celebrate, try these champagne Jello shots instead!

Champagne Jello Shots Ingredients

To make this recipe, you will need champagne, granulated sugar, lemon juice, unflavored gelatin, vodka and silver and gold sprinkles or edible glitter.

How Do You Make Champagne Jello Shots?

Place some of the champagne in a pot with the sugar and lemon juice. Sprinkle the gelatin over the top, then stir. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes so the gelatin can absorb the liquid. Heat the mixture on the stove until it melts, it does not need to boil. Let it cool for a few minutes, then stir in the rest of the champagne and the vodka. Divide the Jello mixture between shot cups. Refrigerate until firm, then add sprinkles or edible glitter and serve.

Tips For The Perfect Shots

I find that 2 ounce shot cups or shot glasses work well for this recipe. Use a champagne that you would enjoy drinking! Wait to add the sprinkles until right before you plan to serve the shots. Otherwise, the sprinkles could melt into the gelatin. Place all the shot cups on a sheet pan before you fill them up. This makes it easier to transfer them to the fridge. If you have leftover champagne, you can drink it as-is, or use it to make a poinsettia cocktail. Serve your shots with fun appetizers such as sausage stuffed mushrooms, grape jelly meatballs or bacon wrapped smokies.

Flavor Variations

This recipe is fabulous as-is, but you can easily change up the flavors to suit your taste.

Jello: You can make champagne Jello shots with fruit flavored gelatin for a different flavor. Use a 3 ounce box of your favorite flavor of Jello, along with 1 cup boiling champagne, 3/4 cup cold water and 1/4 cup vodka. Alcohol: Try using a different sparkling wine like Prosecco or Cava. Toppings: Instead of sprinkles, try adding whipped cream on top of your shots. You can also dip the rims of the chilled shots into a bit of water, then place them onto a plate of sanding sugar for a sparkling rim.

Easy champagne Jello shots are the very best way to celebrate the dawning of a new year. Honestly, these shots are so good that I make them all year long, not just at a New Year’s Eye party!
