There’s nothing better than warm cinnamon rolls, especially around the holidays! Serve this cinnamon roll bake with other breakfast recipes such as frozen fruit smoothies, tropical fruit salad and breakfast egg muffins for a memorable meal. One of my favorite ways to entertain during the holiday season is by hosting a brunch. People seem to book up for evening engagements right away during this busy time, but I find that our friends and family are always able to swing by for a fun and relaxed morning get together. When I entertain, I like to keep it simple yet delicious. This cinnamon roll french toast breakfast casserole is always the star of the show, it’s super easy to make and can even be assembled the night before. It’s also the perfect choice for Christmas morning breakfast.

Cinnamon Roll French Toast Casserole Ingredients

To make this recipe, you will need cans of cinnamon roll dough, eggs, milk, maple syrup, all purpose flour, brown sugar, butter and ground cinnamon.

How Do You Make Cinnamon Roll French Toast Casserole?

Preheat the oven and coat a baking dish with with cooking spray. Remove the cinnamon roll dough from the can and cut each roll into quarters. Place the dough in the casserole dish. Reserve the frosting for later use. Place the eggs, milk and maple syrup in a large bowl and whisk to combine. Pour the egg mixture over the dough. In another bowl, add the flour, brown sugar, butter and cinnamon. Use a pastry blender or two forks to blend the butter into the other ingredients until a dough forms that looks like pebbles. Sprinkle this streusel over the top of the pan. Bake until the french toast is golden brown. Drizzle the frosting over the top, then serve and enjoy.

Tips For The Perfect Dish

You can use any brand of cinnamon roll dough that you like, so long as the cans are 17.5 ounces. If you’d like to make this cinnamon roll french toast the night before, simply pour the egg mixture over the cinnamon rolls, cover and refrigerate. I make the streusel at the same time and store it in a little container in the fridge. In the morning I simply sprinkle the streusel over the cinnamon rolls and bake! This casserole is best when served immediately. I like to serve something savory on the side for my holiday breakfast to counteract the sweetness of this dish. Some of my favorite options include ham and egg cups, hashbrown casserole and sausage egg casserole.

Flavor Variations

While this casserole is delicious as-is, you can add other ingredients to customize the flavor to your tastes.

Flavorings: Feel free to add some other flavorings to the egg and milk mixture. Some great options include vanilla extract, nutmeg or orange zest. You can also substitute eggnog for the milk for an extra special holiday treat. Toppings: You can add nuts to the streusel topping. My favorite options are candied pecans or candied walnuts, but almonds would also be a great choice.

Holiday entertaining doesn’t have to be overly complicated; with a few minutes and a handful ingredients you can whip up something spectacular that will make any holiday memorable.
