When I’m entertaining around the holidays, I like to offer a variety of drink recipes including a Jack Frost cocktail, a Christmas margarita, champagne Jello shots, a poinsettia cocktail, a Grinch cocktail, Christmas sangria and this simple yet flavorful cranberry mimosa.
How Do You Make A Cranberry Mimosa?
To make this cranberry mimosa recipe, first place sanding sugar on a small plate. Dip the rim of a champagne flute or cocktail glass in water, then place the rim in the sugar. Turn the glass upright, and pour orange juice into the glass. Next add the cranberry juice cocktail and sparkling wine. Finally, garnish with cranberries and a fresh rosemary sprig, then serve. For some drinks for all ages, try my slow cooker apple cider, Thanksgiving punch, German Kinderpunsch and Christmas punch!
Cranberry Juice Cocktail: You want a blend of cranberry juice and sweetener or other juices. Unsweetened cranberry juice is very tart and would make your mimosa tart unless you add simple syrup or another sweetener. Sparkling Wine: You can use your favorite sparkling wine. Some great options include champagne, cava or prosecco. Orange Juice: I recommend no pulp or low pulp orange juice for this cocktail. I also like the flavor of high quality refrigerated orange juice.
Tips For The Perfect Cranberry Mimosa
This recipe is written for one drink. You can easily scale up this cranberry mimosa recipe for a crowd by changing the number of servings in the recipe card. Simply pour your ingredients into a pitcher and enjoy! Feel free to use a less expensive sparkling wine because it will be mixed with fruit juices. Adding coarse sanding sugar to the rims of the glasses adds a fun and festive touch. You can find sanding sugar in the sprinkles area of most grocery stores, or order the sugar online. Try this mimosa with brunch favorites like pumpkin pancakes, sausage egg casserole and classic sticky buns!
Flavor Variations
While this cranberry orange mimosa is fabulous as-is, you can make a few adjustments to the recipe to suit your tastes.
Juice: Swap out the fruit juices for another type of juice such as lime juice, apple cider, a dash of lemon juice, pineapple juice, grape juice, pomegranate juice or cherry juice. You can also add a splash of grenadine for extra color and flavor. Alcohol: You can add small amounts of other types of liqueurs to complement the flavors of the sparkling white wine and tart cranberries. Some great options include an orange liqueur like Grand Marnier, Cointreau or triple sec. Feel free to add a little cranberry vodka. Garnishes: Try making some homemade sugared cranberries to go in your drink. Or swap out the rosemary sprig for fresh mint or a cinnamon stick for a little extra holiday flavor. Mocktail: For a mocktail version of this drink, substitute the sparkling wine for ginger ale or lemon lime soda.
