Seeing as it’s black Friday, and we have a long weekend upon us full of fun things like shopping, eating and TV watching (cough, cough Gilmore Girls). I thought a plate of the most perfect Crispy Belgian Waffles was just the thing to share. But first, I have to ask, how everyone’s Thanksgiving? Did you over stuff yourselves or take it easy? Watch football? Cook up a storm? Put up your tree? Mine was great, low-key and just an all around good day. We cut the family Christmas tree down, cooked all day, made lots of cocktails (new recipe coming tomorrow for Christmas Drink Saturday!), ate a simple, but delicious Thanksgiving meal…followed by plenty of pie – obviously, and then watched Christmas movies until we (and by we I mean the girls) fell asleep. And today? I am making waffles, telling you all about a great brand new cookbook, A Cozy Coloring Cookbook: 40 Simple Recipes to Cook, Eat & Color, and doing ZERO Black Friday shopping. Never could I ever handle the Black Friday crowds. Never.

Speaking of waffles, let’s chat about these pretty ones here. These Crispy Belgian Waffles come from, A Cozy Coloring Cookbook by the awesome Adrianna of A Cozy Kitchen. She created not only a cookbook filled with yummy recipes, but one filled with pages to color and let your imagination run wild. I do not know why this concept has not been thought of before, but it’s genius and so fun! I may be a grown adult, but I can’t lie, whenever I get a chance, you may just find me coloring the kid’s menu at a restaurant, or bringing a coloring book with me on a plane (for Asher, of course ?). I am no artist by any means, but I like to keep my hands busy, and I love to color! This cookbook combines both cooking and coloring, and I am head over heels for it. It’s truly awesome, and you guys, it will make the most perfect Christmas gift for anyone who’s creative, loves to cook, and/or loves to color! And did I mention the recipes are delicious? Because they are! Can you say Chai Gingerbread Cookies?! Yes, please! I had a hard time choosing a recipe, but since I have another gingerbread post coming up, I had to go with these Crispy Belgian Waffles. You guys know I’m a sucker for serious brunch food, and these waffles did not disappoint. They are so good that all they really need is some butter, a drizzle of real maple syrup, and maybe some fruit (I’m using leftover cranberry sauce today!).

Since today is officially the first day I can talk about Christmas without feeling guilty that Thanksgiving hasn’t even taken place, I had to add a little bit of festive flavor. So to my butter, I added a pinch of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg, aka the spices of eggnog!! Totally not necessary, but if you are a Christmas freak like me, I highly recommend whipping up the eggnog scented butter. It’s the perfect thing to round out these already delicious pancakes!! Once you feast on waffles, I’d then check out Adrianna’s book and consider it for all the cooks in your life this Christmas. <–FOR REAL. Now, I’ll be off to watch all the Gilmore Girls I can handle, and eat all the remaining waffles! Tomorrow we talk drinks…and more Christmas!

Hip, hip hooray for waffles and Black Friday chillin’…and Christmas excitement!
