But only if you’re into it. I kind of sort of wanted to include the matcha cream in the title, but then I didn’t want to scare anyone off, since this recipe can be made with or without it and either way it’s a KILLER recipe. So yeah, I just didn’t want to freak anyone out, but for the matcha lovers out there, this is a dessert you must, must try. And for anyone else out there, well, you guys should try it too, cause it’s double chocolate tiramisu! Sidenote: I totally just licked chocolate off my keyboard. I mean, really?? I think I cook a little too much, and I definitely think I need to stop shooting chocolate and then trying to use my laptop to look at the photos while I shoot…with chocolate smeared on my hands. <–real life problems.
You guys remember how the other day I was telling you about our new goat Tiramisu? And you remember how I said that if we ended up getting Tiramisu that I would in turn make some Tiramisu for you all?? Well, guess what, I totally held up my end of the bargain and today we are talking Tiramisu. Like tiramisu the dessert, not Tiramisu the goat. Although, I do have some photos of cute Tiramisu throughout the post, so you know, a little talk about Tiramisu the goat too. Geez, how many times do you think I will say tiramisu throughout this post?? Soo, I have actually had the idea for this tiramisu (the dessert) for a while now, I think since before summer even started, but for some reason I held off on making it. Maybe in the back of my mind I somehow knew that Tiramisu (the goat) was soon to be apart of the family and that I needed to hold off until she was here. Yeah right, I would like to think I am THAT good, but the truth is, I just was not 100% percent sure I wanted to make this dessert. A lot of times it takes me a while before I finally convince myself that a recipe is good enough to show you guys. Sometimes a recipe just needs a month or so to linger in my brain before I pull the trigger. Occasionally a recipe will linger and stay the same (that is rare), but mostly the recipes change somewhat and hopefully, just get better. Often a recipe just needs time to grow into deliciousness in my head. Is that weird? It sounds really weird, but it’s kind of just how it works sometimes. Anyway, this Double Chocolate Hawaiian Tiramisu was one of those recipes, and I am SO glad I let it linger, develop and get better because it’s kind of perfect now. Hello, are you looking at all that chocolate on chocolate on coffee soaked bread action???!! So much yes!
And maybe my favorite part about the entire recipe is the fact that it is completely no-bake and uses just two bowls and maybe 20 minutes of time. It’s honestly SO easy to make. Really, so easy!! Winner, right?!? Here’s the deal, the Hawaiian part to this recipe comes in a few forms.
ONE: Fresh brewed Hawaiian coffee + a little bit of Kahlua…you know, for good measure. TWO: Soft, buttery and Sweet Hawaiian Bread. THREE: Full fat canned coconut milk replaces the traditional cream used in Tiramisu. And then you add a lot of chocolate… you layer… and you call it all Tiramisu. Simple, quick and insanely addicting. It’s the perfect dessert to make at a moment’s notice, BUT it does need to chill out in the fridge for an hour or so to help the cream stiffen and the flavors to set, so you will need to plan for that.
Oh and yes, I do think Tiramisu the goat would approve of these. I didn’t giver her any though, I wasn’t sure that would be the best idea. The goats seem to eat anything and everything, but I don’t know, chocolate just didn’t seem like a good idea…you know, since it can kill dogs and all. But really, isn’t Tiramisu the goat cute?!?! And isn’t this Tiramisu (the dessert) pretty dang good-looking??
