When I’m entertaining I like to offer both alcoholic and non alcoholic drink recipes such as Christmas sangria, Christmas hot chocolate, a poinsettia cocktail, Kinderpunsch, Christmas punch and this adorable green Grinch punch. For an alcoholic green drink, don’t miss my Grinch cocktail! There are so many ways to celebrate the holidays, and this year it’s all about the Grinch! This Grinch punch is green like the famous cartoon character, with cherries to represent his heart that grows three sizes. It’s quick to make, and a HUGE hit with the kids at a holiday party.
Grinch Punch Ingredients
To make this recipe, you will need green Hawaiian Punch, lemon lime soda, pineapple juice, pineapple sherbet or lime sherbet, red sanding sugar and maraschino cherries. You can also add other garnishes such as mint sprigs or lime slices.
How Do You Make Grinch Punch?
Place the sherbet in a punch bowl or pitcher. Add the Hawaiian Punch and pineapple juice and stir to combine. Pour in the lemon lime soda. Garnish with cherries. You can also add mint sprigs or lime slices if you like. Dip the rim of each serving glass into water, then place the rim onto a plate of red sanding sugar. Pour the punch into the sugar rimmed glasses, then serve.
Tips For The Perfect Drink
This drink gets its fun green color and festive flavor and from green Hawaiian Punch. I found this drink at Walmart. If you can’t find the green punch, you could try green Kool-Aid instead. I recommend serving your punch immediately, as it will lose fizziness over time and the sherbet will melt. Any brand of lemon lime soda will work. I typically use Sprite, but 7Up is also a great option. Look for the refrigerated fresh pineapple juice for the best flavor. You can find red sugar in the baking aisle of most grocery stores. I have tested this recipe with both lime and pineapple sherbets. It will taste great either way, just purchase whichever flavor you prefer or what is available at your local store.
Flavor Variations
This drink is delicious as-is, but you can easily customize the flavors to your tastes.
Juice: If you can’t find the green Hawaiian punch or green Kool Aid, you can use a can of limeade concentrate mixed with 4 cups of water. You’ll also need to add green food coloring to get the signature grinch look. Soda: It’s fine to use ginger ale if you don’t have lemon lime soda on hand. You can also use sparkling water for a less sweet drink. Sherbet: Swap out the sherbet for vanilla ice cream for an extra creamy punch. Alcohol: Turn this mocktail into a cocktail by adding 1 cup of rum or vodka.
You simply cannot go wrong with Grinch punch. It’s easy, fun and a memorable treat for Christmas!
