Sliders are one of go-to options for easy entertaining. From buffalo chicken sliders to Cuban style sliders, we love them all! This ham and cheese version is a classic recipe that never goes out of style. Serve with other great appetizer recipes like garlic parmesan wings and watch the rave reviews come in. You can also serve these mini sandwiches as a main course with a side such as Italian pasta salad. Raise your hand if you love sandwiches! My family happens to adore sandwiches, especially when they’re bite sized like these delicious ham and cheese sliders. I make these tasty snacks for parties, game day, or even for an easy weeknight dinner option. They’re also a great way to use up leftover ham.

Ingredients For Ham And Cheese Sliders

To make this easy recipe, you will need Hawaiian sweet rolls, ham, Swiss cheese, melted butter, Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, dried onion, Worcestershire sauce and parsley.

How Do You Make Ham And Cheese Sliders?

Preheat the oven, and coat a baking sheet or baking dish with coking spray. Cut the rolls in half crosswise, and place the bottom half of the rolls on the pan. Place the ham and cheese on top of the rolls, then add the top half of the buns over the meat and cheese. Pour the butter into a small bowl, and whisk in the mustard, poppy seeds, onion and Worcestershire sauce. Brush the butter mixture over the top buns. Cover with foil, and bake until the cheese is melted. Uncover, and bake for a few more minutes until the sandwiches are golden brown. Add a sprinkle of parsley, then serve.

Tips For The Perfect Sliders

Not a fan of ham? Try sliced turkey instead! This recipe as written makes 12 sandwiches, I find that most people eat about 2 sliders. You can easily double or triple the recipe to feed a crowd. The seasoned butter is a mixture of poppy seeds, mustard, minced dried onion and Worcestershire sauce. I know not everyone has a jar of dried onion in their spice cabinet, so you can substitute a pinch of onion powder if need be. I use Swiss cheese because it’s classic, but you can absolutely try a different type of cheese. Other great options are cheddar cheese, mozzarella, jack cheese or provolone. You can assemble the sandwiches up to 4 hours in advance. Store them covered in the fridge until you’re ready to put them in the oven. Leftover sliders will stay fresh in an airtight container for 2 days. Reheat the sandwiches covered in the oven until warm. Ham and cheese sliders are best eaten immediately after they come out of the oven.

Ham and Cheese Slider Flavor Variations

While ham and cheese are a perfect pairing on their own, you can add more ingredients to these sliders to adapt them to your taste preferences.

Spicy: Add a layer of pickled jalapenos in between the ham and cheese. Club: Add turkey and bacon to the sandwiches. Italian: Use provolone cheese and add sun dried tomatoes and chopped marinated artichokes. Cuban: Add a layer of sliced pickles and a little yellow mustard. French Dip: Use roast beef and Swiss cheese, and serve the sandwiches with store bought au jus for dipping.

Ham and cheese sliders are a welcome addition to any gathering. The seasoned butter really takes these sandwiches over the top and turns them into something special!
