It’s time for a confession on this blog. I hate tea. The smell, the taste and even the color. Probably I am the only person who couldn’t even stand the smell of tea. Growing up, tea was made at our home only for our dad. When amma used to make it, I would not even step into the kitchen. Few years down the lane, I started to make tea for my dad few times in a week– if not for anything, for his compliments 🙂 Few more years down the lane, I gulp down a cupful quickly when my MIL lovingly hands it over every morning when we visit them. That’s my tea story.

My tea powder at home is reserved only for guests or my dad, when my parents visit us. While black tea is a no-no-no, I love a cup of hot green tea every afternoon at office. It started drinking it as a habit to include green tea for health benefits and now, I have come to enjoy it. I know many people who can’t stand the green tea, so that makes me think – if I make a little effort, I would like the black tea as well 🙂

So in my attempts to like tea, I started to look out for options. First, ginger tea. Strong ginger flavor in hot tea was what my MIL offered me once when I was down with sore throat and that did the trick. I get my husband to make it for me, as he makes really good tea. Even so, it was not a regular thing at our home. To fix that, this mango season I decided to make iced tea infused with mango flavor. It turned out to be one of the best cool drinks I have ever made. Even for someone like me, who doesn’t like tea – I had two glassfuls 🙂 The recipe is quite simple and turns out gorgeous! I plan on making other flavors of iced tea soon, I am sure I would love tea this way 🙂

With one large sized ripe mango, on pureeing there should be at least a cup of mango pulp. I kept the mango pulp and tea decoction in equal quantities. Adjust as per desired. The iced tea was on the thicker side, as I didn’t water down my mango pulp. Add more water if required. Adjust sugar quantity as per desired. Since my mango was sweet, I used 3 teaspoon of sugar.
