Sloppy joes are always a welcomed dinner option, and this zesty version has all the great flavors of nachos in sandwich form.

I am a huge fan of nachos, especially that fake processed orange nacho cheese sauce. What can I say, it’s one of my weaknesses! These nacho sloppy joes combine that famous nacho cheese sauce with ground beef for a fun sandwich option that is full of bold flavors.

How do you make nacho sloppy joes?

The first step in this recipe is to cook up your ground beef. I use a combination of beef, onions, taco seasoning and tomato sauce to make the base for this sandwich. I use 90% lean beef, as it still has plenty of flavor but is not overly greasy.

The meat is layered onto toasted buns along with nacho cheese sauce. Nacho cheese comes in cans in the Mexican food aisle of most grocery stores. You can heat your cheese sauce in the microwave or on the stove top. If you’re not a fan of nacho cheese sauce, feel free to use shredded cheddar cheese or even homemade queso sauce.

Traditional quick service nachos come with tortilla chips, cheese sauce and pickled jalapenos. I added the jalapenos to my sloppy joes for a more authentic flavor, but if you’re feeding kids, feel free to omit them.

You can add other nacho toppings to your sloppy joes if you like, more great options are

Pico de gallo Guacamole Cilantro Olives Sour cream

The Mexican ground beef can be made up to one day before you plan to serve it, and it makes a great candidate for the freezer. Simply warm up your meat, layer your sandwiches and enjoy!
