Well not here, because here it is still snowing (and I am not kidding – like at all). But for most everywhere else it is almost ice cream season. And I love ice cream season. In my mind ice cream season means a few things: ~hot days ~sunshine ~warm nights ~dairy queen ~milkshakes ~and all the homemade ice cream I can possibly make Basically, it’s just an awesome season. I know we are not really there yet, but I still say a milkshake is needed on this Tuesday… snow, sunshine, rain or whatever else may be going on your neck of the woods....

There’s nothing better than warm cinnamon rolls, especially around the holidays! Serve this cinnamon roll bake with other breakfast recipes such as frozen fruit smoothies, tropical fruit salad and breakfast egg muffins for a memorable meal. One of my favorite ways to entertain during the holiday season is by hosting a brunch. People seem to book up for evening engagements right away during this busy time, but I find that our friends and family are always able to swing by for a fun and relaxed morning get together....

You guys. This cake. I LOVE it. I know I say this so often, but this cake is so good, words really cannot describe its deliciousness. If you like banana, coconut, and chocolate, you absolutely have to make this cake. Like no questions, you have to make it. Not sure what’s going on this month, but I am in serious cake making mode. In the last two weeks, I have made so many cakes it’s insane....

I actually never planned on making doughnuts on National Doughnut Day, but it happened and I am not complaining about it. To be honest, I have had this idea in my head for while. It all started with the idea of making Coconut Sweetened Condensed Milk and then making a vegan iced coffee. Then, like always, the longer I waited to make the iced coffee the more my idea grew… and grew… to a sweet as ever total dessert-like coffee drink…....

Frozen Yogurt had been on my to-do list forever. Inspite of being super easy to make, I had never tried it. Compared to the calorie rich ice creams, frozen yogurts are much better and as an after meal dessert – they taste so good. I am not so fond of yogurt or should I say I can’t have store bought curd. So I end up making butter milk or skip yogurt all together....

Another delicious savory recipe made for Deepavali is Ribbon Pakoda. As the name suggests, this is a savory snack deep fried in oil - meaning pakoda and as it is in thick ribbons, it is called ribbon pakoda. Along with murukku, Amma always prepared a big batch of Ribbon Pakodi. After the strenuous work of making murukkus, pressing ribbons of dough is not so difficult. With a big family setting, this also means that you get to make a nice batch of snack in lesser time....

I am sooooo tired of this crazy heat we’ve got going on here in California. It is hot and humid with no sign of it letting up any time before November. I’m dreaming of cooler weather and fall food, like these amazingly easy slow cranberry meatballs. These meatballs take just minutes to put together and they’re sweet, savory and absolutely delicious. I’m thinking this will be the perfect appetizer for Thanksgiving or really any fall get together!...

I heard some of you east coasters are experiencing some rather warm October temperatures. I’m so sorry to hear that, but well, here in Colorado? It’s actually fall, and it’s actually soup weather, meaning – I made soup! Today I have the best, creamiest soup to share with you guys, and I’m hoping you all will love it…weather permitting or not. This broccoli soup has been on my list of “fall recipes to make” since this time last year....

No I literally made us some cheese. Well, not us, me, but you know. My grocery store didn’t carry paneer (or they do, but they were out), so I decided to make my own. It was actually so incredibly easy and if you are interested, I used this recipe from The Kitchen. It only takes thirty minutes and it was actually kind of fun. If you have the time, I would totally give it a try....

I try to make my own spice rubs and seasoning blends whenever possible. I can control the flavors to my liking and the flavors are much more vibrant! Some of my favorites include homemade taco seasoning, BBQ rub, Jamaican jerk seasoning and this Creole seasoning. When I want to add a little spice to my cooking, I turn to Creole seasoning. This zesty spice mix contains a wide variety of different herbs and spices, and goes well with so many different dishes....

I feel like I’ve been saying this a lot, but, I know you all will love this recipe so much. I’m so excited about it! I think we all know that when my brothers are home, I make Red’s favorite spicy poke bowls all the time. Like at least once a week. Both Red and Kai love these bowls. When I can find good-looking Sushi grade Ahi tuna, those poke bowls are usually what I make....

We’re just one week out from the start of fall!! Part of me is sad that time is flying by, but most of me just feels excited. Excited for the season ahead. Say hello to your new favorite way to make everyone’s favorite Thanksgiving side dish. Yes, the crockpot!! You guys, in all honesty, if there was ever a crockpot recipe to know how to make, it has got to be these mashed potatoes. If you think about it, it’s kind of brilliant. Let me put it this way, not only does it free up space on the stove, but it there’s NO BOILING the potatoes and so much less clean up, AND the crockpot will keep your mashers warm until ready to eat, meaning no reheating necessary....

I did not grow up seeing mom make dahi baigan. She made a ton of eggplant recipes such as green baigan bharta, baingan pakora or rasedaar baingan but did not combine eggplants this way with yogurt. I was introduced to this luscious preparation of yogurt and eggplant by few of my friends who make the Afghani borani banjan. What a delicious preparation it is! I got inspired after eating it numerous time at their houses to finally come up with this version....

Dahi Puri Chaat is a mouth-watering street food recipe that is popular all over India. It is a delicious chaat recipe made using puris stuffed with spiced potatoes and mildly sweetened dahi – plain yogurt, sweet tamarind chutney, spicy green chutney and other spice powders. Chaat is one of those things that is quite simple once you have all the ingredients prepared ahead. It can be served as a snack or appetizer and is one of the best recipes to be prepared ahead, but made just before serving....

Yet another Indo-Chinese dish. It only seems right though, after posting Veg Fried Rice, I should write this super tasty side dish that became hugely popular on the very first trial. Few days back, I got a bottle of chilli sauce during one of our weekly shopping sessions. It’s not like I always buy my chilli sauce, I like making it at home – even though its quite rustic. For some reason, this bottle of chilli sauce called on to me (not literally :P) and I brought it home....

Okay, I have a confession to make. In the last month or so I have been posting more desserts and sweets than anything else and I am not feeling bad about it 😉 I love sweets, especially those that are made at home and would like to enjoy a bite or two after any meal. Needless to say, I have been making a lot of sweets at home and they are finding their way over here 🙂...
