Arbi Fry

Arbi, also known as ghuiya (in Hindi) or colocasia, is a cooked often in our home. One of the methods I enjoy it is stir-frying arbi or arvi with potatoes and basic spices. This arbi fry recipe is another favorite! Although both these recipes are similar, they involve slightly different method of cooking. The main difference lies in boiling the arbi first to make arbi fry sabji (vegetable dish). I am sharing north indian style arbi fry in the post....

Asada Mushroom Tacos With Lime Smashed Avocado

And pineapple salsa too, because you know me, I love my fruity salsa. Today marks the start of my Cinco de Mayo recipes. I know this may sound a little odd, but Cinco de Mayo is one of my favorite food days of the year. If I’m being honest, it totally beats out Thanksgiving. I know, that’s crazy, and I LOVE Thanksgiving so much, but generally speaking I just prefer a good taco over a roasted turkey....

Aval Kesari Poha Sheera

[ultimate-recipe-jump id=“13908” text=“Jump to Recipe”] Today I took a decision – I chose to push away the stress, anxiety and everything covid-related to the back of my mind. It is simpler said than done, but I wanted to give it a try and indulge myself in a bit of leisure cooking on the occasion of Tamil New Year. Alas, what’s better than food to raise up our spirits?! The last few days have been stressful and we were making do with minimal basic cooking that today I felt like going all the way....

Badam Milk

Badam milk is a traditional indian beverage packed with flavor and warmth. Its super easy to make, refreshing and aromatic. It is also known as badam doodh or badam wala doodh. Today I am sharing an heirloom badam milk recipe belonging to my grand mother. In those days, she used to tirelessly grind the almond & poppy seeds paste using a sil batta (indian style mortar & pestle). Growing up, badam milk was a regular in our home especially during winter months....

Badam Nankhatai Indian Shortbread

This was the cookie which I grew up with. We had a round aluminum oven at my grandma’s place and it saw light of the day just to bake nankhatais. I often make nankhatai for my kids. I make them with besan(gram flour) only, or sometimes with a mix of different flours like all purpose & semolina. There are truly so many combinations of flours and flavors possible. Eggless Indian Cookies Nankhatai are popular not just in India but in the entire indian subcontinent....

My favorite kind… well, actually extra cheesy pizza is my favorite kind, but colorful is a close second! It’s just an all around really great meal. Plus, after a long three-day weekend, I felt like a nice and easy (and cheesy) recipe like this would be ideal for easing us back into the work week, much better than say…a boring green salad....

Cheeseburger Meatloaf

Chicken Rezala

Serve chicken rezala with indian flatbreads like doughy naan or rumali roti to soak up that ric sauce. Or serve with cumin scented rice(jeera rice). This chicken rezala recipe closely resembles creamy mughlai murgh korma (chicken korma), however, its a bit different in terms of selection of spices and no use of heavy cream. The best thing about mughlai cooking is the use of delicate and rich flavors. You will not find chicken rezala on restaurant menus here....
