When I’m looking for a light appetizer for a hot summer day, I turn to this super easy pineapple salsa. It takes just minutes to put together, and once you try it, you won’t be able to stop eating it!

When you think about summer, having a barbecue usually comes to mind. This pineapple salsa is my favorite appetizer to serve when it comes to warmer weather parties. Delicious and full of flavor, yet light, which pairs well with hot weather.

HOW DO YOU MAKE PINEAPPLE SALSA?

This salsa recipe is easier to make than most appetizers. Begin by dicing your pineapple, peppers, onions, and cilantro. Throw all the ingredients in a bowl to make the best sweet and savory salsa. This fruit salsa is best served with chips as a dip or as a topping for tacos, chicken, steak, or fish.

Be sure to dice your pineapple small enough in order to easily scoop it with a tortilla chip. If you aren’t feeling the red bell pepper, you can use poblano peppers in their place. The recipe as written makes a mild salsa. If you prefer, you can leave some of the seeds and ribs in the jalapenos which will bump up the spice level.

This salsa can be made in advance if desired. However, I advise that it only be made one day in advance for optimal taste and overall freshness. You can serve the pineapple salsa in a bowl or use a hollowed out pineapple which adds a fun and festive look when served at a party or event.

CAN YOU MAKE PINEAPPLE SALSA WITH TOMATOES?

Of course! There’s not one set way to make pineapple salsa. Other vegetables or herbs can be added if that’s what you desire for your recipe. Tomatoes always go well with salsa because of their fresh and flavorful taste. Just dice them as small as the pineapple when adding them.

CAN PINEAPPLE SALSA BE MADE IN A BLENDER?

Homemade salsa is often made in the blender. However, this type of salsa isn’t usually made that way although there’s no universal rule. If you enjoy the thinner salsa like the kind that is served at Mexican restaurants, go ahead and blend away.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s to have an easy and quick appetizer up your sleeve for any get together. This pineapple salsa is one of my go-to recipes and it goes over extremely well every time it’s served. I have no doubt I’ll be making it time and again this summer.
