When figs are in season, I use them to make recipes such as spinach fig salad, and these easy and delicious roasted figs. Fresh figs are one of my all time favorite fruits, and they’re especially unique because they have such a short season. While this fruit is delicious eaten out of hand as a snack, or mixed into fruit salad, you can also caramelize them to make roasted figs for an extra special dessert or appetizer offering.

Roasted Figs Ingredients

To make this roasted figs recipe, you will need fresh figs, granuated sugar, ground cinnamon and ground cloves.

How Do You Make Roasted Figs?

Preheat your broiler, and coat a baking sheet with cooking spray. Place the sugar, cinnamon and cloves in a small bowl, and stir to mix everything together. Dip the cut sides of the figs twice into the cinnamon sugar mixture. Arrange the figs, cut side up on the sheet pan. Broil in the oven for a few minutes, until the figs are caramelized and tender, then serve and enjoy!

Tips For the Perfect Dish

Use ripe, fresh figs for the best results. You can tell when your figs are ripe by gently squeezing them. If they have some give, they’re ready to use. Watch your figs carefully as they cook so that there’s no risk of them burning! Leftovers will stay fresh in an airtight container for up to 3 days. It’s easy to change up the spices to flavor the figs to your liking. Try using ground allspice, ginger or nutmeg instead of the cloves.

How To Use Roasted Figs

There are so many different ways to enjoy roasted figs. They can serve as a dessert, or in sweet and savory applications.
