Slider sandwiches are so much fun for parties, and can be made in so many different flavors like Cuban sliders, buffalo chicken sliders and chicken parmesan sliders. This Mexican version is full of meat and melted cheese to satisfy the heartiest appetites!

I just love a good slider sandwich. They’re fun, easy to eat and filling. These taco sliders take all the best flavors of a classic beef taco and stuff it in between garlic buttered buns. How can you go wrong with that?!

How do you make taco sliders?

The first step is to prepare your taco filling. I use 90% lean ground beef, taco seasoning, tomato sauce and onion. The whole mixture gets cooked together into a saucy and flavorful taco meat.

The taco meat gets layered with sliced cheddar cheese between your slider buns. Many slider recipes call for Hawaiian style rolls. That is not a good choice for this recipe because the sweetness of the bread isn’t a good flavor match for the super savory taco meat. Look for small white or wheat dinner rolls instead. I toast the bottom of my slider buns before I add the meat so that the bread doesn’t get soggy.

I went with cheddar cheese here because it’s a classic for tacos, but other great cheese options are pepper jack or even nacho cheese sauce. The tops of the buns get brushed with garlic butter, then the sandwiches go into the oven until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Add a sprinkle of cilantro, then enjoy!

While these taco sliders are great on their own, I think they’re even better if you serve them with toppings on the side, just as you would a real taco. Some of my favorite topping options are

Salsa Guacamole Shredded lettuce Olives Sour cream

While sliders are often thought of as game day food, I also make these taco sliders for a quick and easy dinner that the kids devour. If you’re making your sliders for a party, you can prepare your taco meat up to one day in advance. Assemble and bake the sandwiches right before serving so that they don’t get soggy. Your friends and family will love these taco sliders. Serve up a big tray of them and watch them disappear!
