YOU GUYS. These are the kind of posts I love sharing most. I could not be more excited about today’s Saturday Cocktail recipe. It’s not only a great drink, it’s also so fun, and “spooky”. It seems that I simply cannot go a Halloween season without creating at least one or two Harry Potter inspired recipes. I know Harry Potter isn’t just for Halloween, but Halloween gives me the the perfect excuse to play around with recipes and create themed drinks and desserts that I wouldn’t have an excuse to create otherwise. Clearly, I LOVE it, and creating holiday content like today’s drink is the kind of stuff that keeps me going and reminds me why I love what I do so much…even if I am just a tinsy bit tired. Anyway, just thought I would share my excitement with you guys! Moving onto drink details now. Like I said above, this recipe is the simplest to make, but is also surprisingly delicious. When I set out to make this drink, I really just had the vision of this photo in my head. I knew I wanted to create a cocktail called the Half Blood Prince. I also knew I wanted the color of the cocktail to be red. I took these two building blocks and ran with them… Literally, I headed straight to my pantry and looked through the liquors I had on hand. I grabbed a good bottle of bourbon, the never before used bottle of Chambord (raspberry liquor), a ruby-red pomegranate, fresh lemons, and just started mixing things up. I knew the combo of bourbon, pomegranate, and lemon would be great. But I wasn’t too sure about using Chambord, as I had never used it before. The fancy bottle had been sitting in my pantry for a couple of years. Yes years, it had never been opened. I figured this would be the perfect drink to finally open that bottle up for and give the liquor a try. Turns out it’s actually delicious. It has hints of fresh raspberries and the deepest red color. Perfect for achieving the “bloody” look I was going for. I know it’s a pricy liquor to buy, but a little bit goes a long way, so the bottle should last you a good amount of time. It’s especially great for creating that very special (conversation worthy) cocktail. I shook the bourbon and Chambord with pomegranate juice, lemon, and just a touch of maple for sweetness. Then I poured the drink in my new favorite coupe glasses, and garnished with pomegranate arils and an ice cube. This drink takes maybe 5 minutes to create, and one minute to consume…wait, wait, wait, you probably don’t want to do that. Even though this drink is delicious, take the time to appreciate it, and all of its bone chilling flavor. It’s the perfect all around moody cocktail fit for any October night. Maybe even enjoyed alongside this forbidden forest butterbeer cake. If you make this cocktail please be sure to leave a comment and/or give this recipe a rating! Above all, I love to hear from you guys and always do my best to respond to each and every comment. And of course, if you do make this recipe, don’t forget to also tag me on Instagram! Looking through the photos of recipes you all have made is my favorite!
