I know, I know. A cocktail in the middle of Healthy January? It doesn’t seem fitting, but I promise, this tequila smash is going to crush any winter bugs lurking in the air this season. Honestly, I wasn’t planning on sharing any cocktails all month long. After 3 full months of sharing a new cocktail recipe every single Saturday, I thought I was done with the cocktails for a while. BUT, then something changed. I was feeling really inspired to create a few winter cocktails that are on the healthier side. When inspiration hits, I tend to run with it. Yes, I am crazy, but hey, at least you’re getting a dang good cocktail out of my craziness.
In true cocktail Saturday form, I’m keeping this post short and sweet. So here’s how this tequila smash works. Simply, muddle together blood oranges with lime juice, pomegranate juice, fresh ginger, mint, and a touch of honey…if you need the sweetness. Muddle until you’ve pressed out all the orange juice, and really infused the ginger into the drink. Now, add some tequila and shake, shake, shake. Strain into your favorite cocktail glass, and add a blood orange slice, to make the drink extra pretty. And done. It’s quick, it’s easy, and you simply will not be able to get enough of this healthier winter cocktail.
As you can tell from the ingredients (and even just the vibrant color), this cocktail packs in the vitamin C and antioxidants. It will keep your immune system strong. Oh, and did I mention, it’s also the type of drink you’ll be asked to make over and over again? Well at least I am. Also, if you are partaking in “Dry January”, aka no alcohol all month long. No worries, you can easily just omit the tequila and enjoy an extra citrusy winter mocktail. Which is honestly what I prefer anyway. It works well. So do what works best for you here. Enjoy, happy Saturday, and see you tomorrow for a new favorite’s post!
